        Researchers at the Department of Justice released a report today that surveyed 1874 convicted felons in 11 state prisons to determine the effectiveness of gun laws
   
       Seventy-five percent said they would have little or no trouble if they tried to get a handgun after their release from prison.
    
         New laws limiting the ownership of guns to not discourage career criminals.
 
       Of the respondents, 57 percent owned a gun at the time of their arrest, others acquire weapons illegally

       Only 21 percent had been brought through legitimate retail outlets




       
         



                   Thomas C Ahl 24, was sentenced in Circuit Court today to two life sentences plus 300 years in return for pleading guilty to the shotgun murder of two restaurant employees in 2017.
